How to Install OpenVPN on Samsung Galaxy 5 Froyo

Before proceeding with this tutorial. Kindly download the following. Most of these are available in the Android Market except for the tun.ko file. Kindly ensure that you have enabled 3G service with your Network provider.

Shall we start:



1) Root your Samsung Galaxy 5. For stock users use Universal Androot, for Cyanogenmod users use Superoneclick

2) Install Root Explorer. Create a folder named openvpn on your sdcard. /sdcard/openvpn

3) Install OpenVPN installer and its binaries.
    Install on the following locations /system/xbin > /system/xbin/bb

4) Use Root Explorer to check if the folder /system/xbin/openvpn exist.

5) Install Busybox and check if it exist on /system/xbin/busybox.

6) Install OpenVPN settings
- OpenVPN settings and go to options, then advanced.
- Kindly check Load tun Kernel Module
- Set patch to OpenVPN binary: /system/xbin/openvpn
- Go to the tun module settings: >> Load Module using >> Insmod
- Set path to the tun module : >> /Sdcard/openvpn/tun.ko

7) Run Root Explorer

- Go to the folder /system/xbin
- Mount the folder as R/W – the button is on the upper right
- Scroll down and look for the file OpenVPN --> Long press and set the following permissions

User: Read + Write +Execute
Group: Read + Execute
Others: Read + Execute


- Now press Meny key and create a folder and name it bb ( path should now be system/xbin/bb )

8) Install and run Terminal Emulator and run the following commands. Be patient as the screen is very small.

su
busybox ln -s /system/bin/busybox /system/xbin/bb/ifconfig
busybox ln -s /system/bin/busybox /system/xbin/bb/route


9) Your now set. All you need now is a VPN service to subscribe to. Or you may subscribe here
